Our Montessori Environment
- Classrooms are small communities where children develop kindness, respect, personal responsibility, and independence
- The environment is bright, warm, and aesthetically pleasing, featuring Montessori materials, continent maps, science centers, mathematical models, plants, books, music, and art
- Children work happily in a peaceful setting with soft, calming music, choosing activities that interest them and engaging in hands-on learning
- Daily routines include caring for the environment, such as watering plants, cleaning, and preparing the snack table
- Older students follow a responsibility chart, while younger children take responsibility for their child-sized environment
- Strong relationships form among students and educators, creating lasting memories
- Emphasis on the Montessori belief that the environment plays a key role in a child's development
"It is through the environment that an individual is molded and brought to perfection"
-Maria Montessori
Individualized Learning
- Qualified and dedicated teachers create an environment where students have the freedom and tools to explore their own curiosity.
- Individual curriculum nurtures each child's independence, creativity, and intelligence
- Educators recognize and guide each child's unique talents and abilities during critical development years
- A low student-to-teacher ratio enhances growth opportunities and instills a lifelong love of learning
- The environment is thoughtfully designed to accommodate different learning styles, with children choosing materials from accessible shelves and learning at their own pace
- The school fosters each child's curiosity, treating them as unique individuals and preparing them for the future
- "Freedom of work choice" allows children to develop "inner discipline"—freedom with responsibility
- Emphasis on the Montessori philosophy that a child's work is to perfect themselves
"A child's work is to create the man he will become. An adult works to perfect the environment, but a child works to perfect himself"
-Maria Montessori
Integrated Montessori Curriculum
- The curriculum at Growing Minds Montessori School follows the child, allowing for individualized learning rather than a one-size-fits-all approach
- Dr. Montessori believed that children from birth to six years old have an absorbent mind that rapidly soaks up experiences and impressions
- Offering children varied experiences guided by adults, rather than led, helps them reach their full potential and leads to a richer, happier life
- Classrooms are organized into several curriculum areas:
• Practical Life
• Sensorial, Mathematics & Geometry
• Language Arts
• Cultural Studies (Geography, History, Biology & Physical Science)
• Art
• Music & Movement
• Spanish
- Emphasis on the Montessori belief that education is a natural process acquired through experiences in the environment, not just by listening to words
"Education is a natural process carried out by the Human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but experiences in the environment"
Parent Involvement
-We understand the great importance of parents becoming partners in the education of their child during these formative years. We recognize parents as the child’s first teachers and encourage participation
from the parents and families of our students. We have very effectively formed a two-way
communication between home and school
At Growing Minds Montessori school, we have provided different platforms for parent
involvement:
Individualized reading program gives the parents an opportunity to read with individual and groups of children on a daily basis
Parents of the month has turned out to be a beautiful tradition of volunteering that
gives the parents an opportunity to be a part of the incredible growth and excitement
taking place in your child’s classroom
We recognize the fact that parents’ involvement plays a vital role in the child’s development.
It is parent involvement and un-conditional love that makes Growing Minds so very special!
